About

My name is Reginald Gilmore II (he/him), and I am from Chattanooga, Tennessee! I  obtained my Master's degree in social work from UTC, and ever since, I have been in love with this field of work. When I am not in a clinical setting, I love hiking and adventuring with my partner and our mastiff puppy Melo, going on adventures around beautiful Oregon, or reading indoors on gloomy days.

I originally became interested in this field because of my mother. She has been on dialysis for 25 years, still going strong, and her outcome was always very unknown to us. Her doctor told us that she had already lived the expected lifetime of 5 dialysis patients combined. Growing up, I always remember seeing this stranger show up here and there to help my mother obtain the care and resources she needed during her treatments. She would pop up before and after surgeries to make sure my mom felt confident moving forward; she would give her peace of mind in nerve-wracking moments. This woman helped my mother get her medication when we weren't able to afford it, and for that, I always saw her as a hero. Day after day, I started to believe that she was my mother's guardian angel. It wasn't until I was older that I found out that this mysterious person was my mother's social worker! I then became drawn to the field, and my interest has been captivated since.

My practice specializes in treating individuals, couples, youth, and families.  I’m confident that no problem is too great to overcome. I partner with you to identify your wants, your beliefs, and what living authentically looks like. I feel like it's our mission as clinicians to take the stigma out of mental health and therapy. Mental Health is Health, and we deserve to seek out help and resources just as we would if we had a cold just because you can't see the emotional scars or emotional pain does not mean that they don't exist.

One of my favorite quotes of all time is by Muhammad Ali, who said, "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth." Through this, I have felt it to be my duty to change the negative stigma surrounding social work and the term "social service" to let families know that we are here not only to help but also to create a safe space for them to build the support structure that they need to succeed on their own. I believe this can happen everywhere through exceptional rapport building and high quality of care in the field, so that is the example that I do my best to follow.
